<p>這個表格叫做艾普沃斯嗜睡自我評量表，總分<span class="b">9分以下</span>的人屬於睡眠正常；<span class="b">10分開始</span>表示有嗜睡傾向；而如果得分<span class="b">超過18以上</span>，可能就是不正常的病理性嗜睡了。</p>
<h2>嗜睡症的診斷類型</h2>
<p>即使在自我評量得到高分，要被診斷為嗜睡症其實也並不容易，還必須將單純的睡眠不足、生活壓力、疾病藥物、生理期影響等種種其它因素一一排除。下面是幾種比較常見的嗜睡症類型：</p>
<h3>猝睡症（Narcolepsy）</h3>

又叫做<span class="b">發作性嗜睡症</span>，簡單來說就是會「<span class="b"><span class="box-yellow">無預警昏睡</span></span>」的一種嗜睡症。猝睡症最大的特徵就是患者會無預警從清醒狀態進入深度睡眠，但可以很容易被叫醒，而且只要15分鐘左右的小睡就會恢復精神。</p>
<p>除了無預警昏睡以外，「<span class="b"><span class="box-yellow">猝倒</span></span>」也是後期判斷猝睡症的重要關鍵。它有個比較生動的日文名字叫做「<span class="b">情動脫力發作</span>」，也就是在大笑、驚訝等強烈的情緒起伏時，肌肉會暫時脫力，導致全身癱軟站不穩，甚至直接睡著。聽起來有點匪夷所思，不過只要有這樣的症狀，幾乎就能確定是猝睡症了。</p>
<p>此外，猝睡症的發作也會影響夜晚的睡眠品質。譬如產生如同做夢一般的<span class="b">入睡前幻覺</span>，或<span class="b">頻繁睡眠中斷</span>，醒來時發現意識清醒身體卻動不了，也就是俗稱「鬼壓床」的<span class="b">睡眠麻痺</span>狀態。</p>
<p>猝睡症對生活造成的影響很嚴重，不但本人會累積巨大的心理壓力，更有可能在從事有受傷風險的工作或駕駛時，釀成不可挽回的意外。在各種嗜睡症的種類中，猝睡症被認為是危險性最高的一種。</p>
<h3>原發性嗜睡症（Idiopathic hypersomnia）</h3>

原發性嗜睡症則是一種「<span class="b"><span class="box-yellow">睡眠時間拉長</span></span>」的疾病，患者每天需要的<span class="b">睡眠時間可能超過10小時</span>以上，每到白天就會昏昏欲睡，起床時也難以恢復精神。跟猝睡症的情況不同，原發性嗜睡症的睏意較能以意志力抵抗，但只要一趴下就可能睡超過1個小時，起來時也還是一樣昏昏沉沉，<span class="b">睡眠沒有回復效果</span>。</p>
<p>原發性嗜睡症也容易引發自律神經異常的症狀，且都是慢性、長期持續的。包括頭痛、肩膀痠、頭暈目眩、心悸以及消化道症狀等等，對認知機能與情緒也會造成影響。</p>
<p>順帶一提，「原發性」指的是自發或是原因不明的嗜睡症狀，也就是把比較常見的嗜睡原因，像是睡眠不足、壓力或與藥物影響等一一排除之後所得到的診斷結果。這也讓原發性嗜睡症的診斷難度變得非常高，大部分的人可能都會被診斷為睡眠不足症候群。</p>
<h3>猝睡症與原發性嗜睡症的比較</h3>
<p>猝睡症與原發性嗜睡症的原因都被認為是中樞神經系統異常，也是兩種發病頻率相對較高的嗜睡症。兩者的差別整理如下：</p>

屬於「<span class="b">反覆性嗜睡症（Recurrent hypersomnia）</span>」，也被叫做「睡美人症」。顧名思義，患者在長達數日至數個月的發病期間會陷入長時間的昏睡狀態，每天可能長達16小時到20小時，這之間所有日常生活都會停擺，只剩吃飯、上廁所時保持清醒，是一種非常奇妙而罕見的疾病。</p>
<p>反覆性嗜睡症在全球只有不到千人病例，發病比例最高的是10幾歲的青少年男性。當症狀發作時，患者除了強烈睡意襲來，食慾與性慾也會跟著增加，而由於清醒時往往感到極度疲憊並心浮氣躁，所以也幾乎無法與外界溝通。</p>
